You can’t get a much better taste of Vermont than at Citizen Cider, which uses 100% locally sourced apples to make its hard cider. The tasting room on Pine Street has a friendly vibe, and you often end up chatting with your neighbors at one of the long bench tables. Or you can grab a high-top table on the outside deck on nice summer days. They offer 10 rotating cider taps, as well as special cider cocktails, or you can fill up a growler to take with you.
You can’t go wrong with their flagship cider, Unified Press, and if you like ginger, make sure to try the Dirty Mayor. They do have a menu to accompany your cider, as well as a few beers on tap for those who aren’t cider fans. Try the Vermont cheese board, which goes great with the cider, or for something more substantial, the chicken biscuit is quite tasty.
