Discover the wizardry of working with glass at the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio. The facility demystifies both the hot and cold glass creation process. Would-be artists learn beginner and intermediate techniques in glassblowing, and flameworking as well as in creating neon and stained glass. At the -2-hour Champagne Paperweight session, never-evers learn skills, then blow through their pipes, twirling their own paperweights into existence. At the all-day Introduction to Glassblowing, and the two-day Introduction to Neon, artists fashion sculptures. Private glassmaking session are also available. Prices vary.
Turn glassmaking into a family activity by buddying up with your creative teen. Several classes have a minimum age of 12-years-old and others accept students age 16 and older.
Tip: At the Glass Studio’s Third Thursday events, watch as glass becomes performance art. A cash bar and live music add to the fun.
