Chinese Cultural Centre

The Cultural Dynamics behind Chinatown

The Chinese Cultural Centre is a nice complement to nearby Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden and provides an historical context to the neighborhood.

Through the center’s extensive library, educational displays, archives, and even classes, you can discover the interesting history of Chinese immigrants who settled in this bustling neighborhood.  The art gallery upstairs hosts traveling exhibits by Chinese and Canadian artists and there’s an on-site military museum recalling the role of Chinese Canadians in the last two world wars.

A great time to visit is during the two-week Chinese New Year festivities in late January and early February, which are sponsored and coordinated by the cultural center.

Allow 30 minutes.
