Located at the base of Boulder’s Flatirons, Chautauqua Park – a national historic site – has an old-fashioned lodge and cabins. Run by the Colorado Chautauqua Association, the park is located just a few miles from downtown but the views are spectacular. There are several trails and you can hike or bike directly into the Flatirons on some of the ones leading from the park.
Chautauqua also has lodging in comfortable, furnished cabins with kitchens but no TVs. There’s a lovely old-fashioned dining hall serving food daily, and the Sunday brunch is popular with locals.
Concerts and events are held here during the summer. Events are inside, but many locals picnic on the grass and can hear the concerts.
The park’s formal name is Colorado’s Chautauqua National Historic Monument. The entire campus is smoke-free.
Chautauqua is a 10-minute drive from the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder.
