Built in 1914 as a hunting lodge for a Boston stockbroker, the rarified Chatham Bars Inn (CBI) in Chatham is one of the grandest and most elegant places to stay in New England.
There are 18 different room types spread out among 40 rooms in the main lodge and 176 more in the cottages dotting the resort’s 25 acres. Some are decorated in soothing earth tones, others crisp whites and blues.
Each room is fully outfitted with Frette linens, Bose radios, plasma TVs, and espresso machines. The owners have spent millions upon millions in renovation, restoration, upgrades and expansions and it shows. The lushly landscaped grounds include a private beach and nine-hole golf course. Sailing and fishing lessons, and seal and whale watches are all available for guests. It’s a short walk to downtown Chatham.
