A beautiful winery sitting just yards away from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Chateau Morrisette offers more than just wine.
There is much to take in at Chateau Morrisette: the Southern-style food and scenic view at the restaurant, the free live music on Sunday afternoons (June – October), weekly events including mystery dinners and beach parties, the huge gift shop, the rambling gardens.
And then there’s the wine… The wine mix is just as varied as the entertainment, with 15 reds and 13 whites and blush. Chateau Morrisette shares the fruits of their labors with causes that range from service dogs to the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation to Virginia Tech’s scholarship fund.
You may want to plan to stay a while and be sure to bring your dog. Chateau Morrisette is one of the few wineries where pets can belly up to the bar with you.
The winery is a popular place for weddings and private events. Group tours and private tours are offered (call: 540-593-9223). Dine in the restaurant, picnic on the grounds or buy something from the outdoor grill on Sundays from June – October. Leashed pets are welcome. Kids are also welcome and kept entertained with a sparkling cider tasting (must be under 21).
The vast wine list includes Chardonnay, Vidal Blanc, Viognier, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chambourcin, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Tannat and more.
Both the winery and restaurant are wheelchair accessible; guests can park at a concrete pad and then go up a ramp or directly into a doorway.
