Sipping a mudslide, settling in by the shore, watching the sunset from Red Brook Harbor at the Chart Room … you know you’ve arrived on Cape Cod. However, you gotta do a bit of work to get that coveted seat. You’ll wait for a table for what seems like an eternity (especially if you are trying to score one on the outer edge of the dining room). Then you’ll have to muscle past the stink eyes of others looking to do the same thing. And it ain’t quiet. But it’s worth it at the Chart Room in Cataumet.
The Chart Room serves up the salty atmosphere, with a side of pricy seafood, and live piano and bass nightly. Co-chefs Vinny McGuiness and Tom Gordon have been committed to serving fresh fish since the early 1980s. Standards to order? Lobster salad (served by request every night, even if it is not on the menu), seafood bisque, and grilled swordfish.
