This petit Romanesque chapel is located on the waterfront in the beautiful seaside town of Villefranche-sur-mer, opposite the lovely Welcome Hotel and near the Place Amèlie Pollonnaisan where a Sunday morning antique market takes place.
The chapel was decorated by the famous writer, director, and artist Jean Cocteau who found his muse in the light and lifestyle of the French Riviera and settled in Villefranche in 1924.
It is said that Cocteau convinced local authorities to let him paint the
neglected chapel that’s dedicated to the patron saint of fishermen, which he transformed with his mystical frescoes.
