Just down the block from here is the gargantuan Central World Plaza. So what’s this Central? A department store, but it also has a huge food court, a grocery store, and other opportunities to eat.
In the basement is Central Food Hall, a grocery store that foreigners and expats like. It has a big produce section, a bakery with western and Thai breads and pastries, two double-sided shelves of imported chocolate, and a salad bar. There’s a MOS BURGER branch too, for shoppers who crave a burger on a rice bun before they shlep home the milk and eggs.
Upstairs, the department store sells funky sneakers and British India shirts for men and women. On the 5th floor are Thai housewares, handicrafts, and beauty products, including a Panpuri counter and some good deals on leather purses and wallets.
On the top floor is the Food Loft, which has so much to eat we gave it its own entry.
