The Carroll County Arts Center is a jewel on Westminster’s Main Street. Built in 1937 as a movie theater, the building is only one of two remaining Art Deco structures in Carroll County. A 2003 renovation turned the facility into a 230-seat theater and added art galleries. The Center shows films, hosts live music concerts, lectures, comedy shows and fun seasonal events. There are also yoga classes and a film lovers club.
Two spacious art galleries as well as the Director’s Hall gallery display rotating shows that feature a variety of mediums and styles. Check the schedule for the Festival of Wreaths, the PEEP show and the y’ART sale.
The Center is wheelchair accessible and offers listening devices for the hearing impaired. The building is owned by the City of Westminster and leased to the Carroll County Arts Council for $1 per year.
