Throughout your travels in Quebec City, you’ll no doubt come across the term Cap Diamant.
Cap Diamont is basically the Upper Town part of Quebec, which in geographic terms is called a promontory (who knew?), a large land mass that sits atop a lower land mass.
Originally, Jacques Cartier thought he discovered diamonds — diamants — in them there hills way back when in the 1530s. They turned out to be quartz.
A good place to experience the true Cap Diamont scenic vista view is at the Pierre Dugua de Mons Terrace between the Dufferin Terrace and La Citadelle just off Avenue St. Denis.
