The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre is one of a kind. You acquire a new appreciation for the bravery of bushplane pilots when you climb aboard the tiny aircraft that are the life-line to remote settlements. You also get a new appreciation of forest fire detection and suppression.
The museum also houses a display honouring Canada’s first woman in space – Dr. Roberta Bondar. She was born in S.S.Marie and is celebrated at sites around town such as the Roberta Bondar Park pavilion, the marina beside it, the Ontario Government building on Foster Drive and a marker on the S.S.Marie Walk of Fame.
