Part of the once prestigious Hôtel Métropole – a hotel sadly eclipsed a little these days by the upsurge in boutique hotels, the Café Métropole still remains very much the place to see and be seen in Brussels.
People watching is the order of the day here. Come rain or shine, the 150-seater outside terrace facing the main road is always open, serving coffee and drinks and allowing people a place to sit and relax. If you’re not OK with smokers, you may not find it so pleasant. It is nevertheless a great place to sit and watch the people going by and your fellow diners or drinkers. Situated between the rue Neuve and the Grand Place, it’s not far from anywhere you might want to be.
