This is one of those places visitors generally don’t find. With it squeezed in the middle of a strip of restaurants along Wai‘alae Avenue in Kaimuki and its nondescript frontage, Café Laufer is easy to miss. But please don’t.
With freshly baked breads, yummy sandwiches, great soups, and salads, as well as some of Honolulu’s most exquisite desserts and pastries, it’s hard not to like. In addition to their light fare menu, they offer dinner specials such as meatloaf, chicken picatta, shrimp scampi, roasted pork with lyonnaise potatoes, quiche, and more. The dinner menu changes daily, but you are also welcome to order from the soup/salad/sandwich menu. Oh, and the desserts. Don’t miss those! Be sure to pair your sweet treat with a great cup of coffee.
Notes: There is a large paid parking lot behind the restaurant, which can be entered from 12th Avenue. Also, when you arrive you have to order at the counter. This is not a standard/table service restaurant.
