As THE TOP tourist draw to Victoria, despite the out-of-the-way location, this marble quarry now brims with 54-acres of rare imported plants, and thousands of perennials – all carefully color-coordinated, trimmed and timed to blossom simultaneously for stunning effect.
There’s something to see year-round but the spring and summer are such visual feasts, they’re enough to leave you speechless. Go early to get ahead of the tour busses.
Kids will love the carousel and wandering – even getting lost in, the maze.
Eat in the cavernous café, or reserve a spot in the fine dining restaurant. Afternoon tea is a treat, as are Saturday night fireworks (July/August only; call ahead to pick up a picnic basket from the dining room), and the amazing Christmas light displays in December.
Check website for season opening hours. Plan to include this with a visit to Butterfly Gardens which is less than 3km/2m east. Rates are reduced in winter.
