Brighton Museum & Art Gallery is located in the Pavilion Gardens, literally next door to the Royal Pavilion. Its collection is primarily focussed on the 20th century and covers both art and design. A highlight is a Salvador Dali sofa in the shape of Mae West’s lips.
Other permanent exhibitions include Ancient Egypt, Fine Arts and Fashion and Style.
The Museum also runs shorter term exhibitions. These often feature English artists and highlight the local area.
It also has some quirkier offers like a behind the scenes of the museum tour, pop-up short talks and guided tours. The trails around the museum and bite-sized gallery talks also provide an opportunity to interact in a different way.
Many of the galleries and semi-permanent exhibitions have been designed with children in mind, making this a great family destination.
