The Brewster Fish House is a pleasant and contemporary bistro that charms and delights diners. Owner Vernon Smith worked wonders with this small roadside building, transforming it into an intimate dining room complete with high ceilings, fresh flowers and enticing cuisine.
But before you get in the car and start heading over to Brewster, check your watch. If it’s before 6PM, you can get a table; if not, you will likely have to wait upwards of an hour. As long as you’re not starving, put your name on a waiting list and wander across the street to the beach to really work up an appetite.
Once seated, start with the lobster bisque (which can be spicy). The catch of the day is often grilled to perfection; or try something like pan-seared halibut with crispy polenta and sautéed summer vegetables.
Please, don’t skip dessert — like orange glazed angel food cake or crème brûlée.
