There was lots of local opposition when the bucolic but under-used Taneycomo waterfront just east of downtown was transformed into this 1.5-mile-long shopping and dining complex some years back. But there’s no doubt now that Branson Landing has revitalized the downtown district.
More than 100 specialty stores and restaurants line the boardwalk, anchored on either end by Belk Department Store and Bass Pro Shops. The ubiquitous mall stores have homes here, including Brookstone, Chico’s, Victoria’s Secret, Claire’s, and Famous Footwear, as well as specialty shops like Branson Quilts. In addition to a farmer’s market in autumn, there are also lots of restaurants to choose from, including White River Fish House and Black Oak Grill.
In addition to frequent live entertainment and a weekly Tuesday farmer’s market, diversions include a a children’s playground; sightseeing cruises, with or without meals, aboard the Lake Queen or Landing Princess for trips on Lake Taneycomo; Parakeet Pete’s Waterfront Zipline, allowing you to zip across Lake Taneycomo; and Parakeet Pete’s Steampunk Balloon, which takes riders up to 188 feet above Branson Landing. In any case, don’t miss the Branson Landing Fountains, a great display of water, fire, light and music, and the main stage for many free musical events.
