The Paleis voor Schone Kunsten or Palais des Beaux-Arts is yet another building by the prolific and prodigious master architect, Victor Horta. Aside from being a thing of beauty in its own right, it is the cultural epicentre of Brussels. The name ‘Bozar’is a homonym of the French pronunciation of Beaux-Arts and this is how most people around town know it – and so it came to be the preferred name for the centre itself.
Its complex of exhibition halls, concert halls and many other assorted performance spaces attract artists, performers and exhibitors from every corner of the globe, from small contemporary artists’ exhibitions to large music concerts in its 2,000-odd seater theatre, Bozar presents a vast range of cultural activities every year. Be sure to check the site before you come – there just may be something for you.
