This is an elaborate and impressive circular depiction of the 1870s Franco-Prussian War by Swiss artist Edouard Castres. It was completed in 1881. A narrative (also in English) aids the viewer in interpreting the wintry panorama, revealed over 1100 square meters (11,840 square ft).
The 19th-century building itself (one of the last of its kind in the world) was upgraded in recent years and has a decent-sized eating/drinking area with room for kids to move about, plus
a library and souvenir shops.
