Bogart’s is a Diamond Head institution and one of the very few places outside of Waikiki that serves a scrumptious breakfast in a casual setting. But the great thing about Bogart’s is that it also has full lunch and coffee menus.
When it comes to breakfast I tend to be a creature of habit, which means I’m always ordering their açai bowl, but their homemade Belgian waffles tend to be a local favorite. Both are big and guaranteed to fill you up. If you prefer something heartier, then I suggest trying one of their many omelets. For those of you in a rush or needing something light, grab a bagel with cream cheese, tomatoes, sprouts and capers.
If it’s too crowded, you can always get your food to-go and enjoy it at Diamond Head Lookout as you watch the waves roll in. Either way, your tastebuds (and your stomach!) will be happy you ate here.
Notes: 1) From early morning until 1 or 2pm, they do a heck of a lot of business so be prepared to wait in line (mainly on weekends). 2) Seating is limited—don’t always expect to get in and get out in ten minutes. 3) The parking lot is small, but there should be ample parking if you drive a few extra yards beyond Bogart’s and look on the side street near Unity Church. 4) Cash only. There is an ATM in the back of the Kaimana Pantry (a convenience store) at the other end of the shopping center.
