Founded in 1999, Blue World is an ENGO* that protects the Adriatic marine environment.

In the centre you’ll find permanent and temporary exhibitions and interactive multimedia displays with workshops and lectures for adults and children.

While the education centre is located in Veli Losinj, the institute has field stations on the island and on Vis and Murter. These are the locations where you can volunteer or do an internship.

One of Blue World’s largest programmes focuses on research of the biology and ecology of marine turtles in the Adriatic. This includes tagging, satellite tracking and rehabilitation of injured animals in the sea turtle rescue centre on Losinj.

Their most significant work is done through the Adriatic Dolphin Project that has seen the establishment of a dolphin reserve to stabilize the population of bottle-nose dolphins and other dolphin species. Blue World also have an ‘Adopt a Dolphin’ program.
