Bissingers Chocolatier

Candy Fit For A King

If the King of France says this candy is the best in the world, well then we lowly commoners are certainly obligated to give it a try.

Seriously, as far back as the 1600s, King Louis XIV – for whom St. Louis gets its name – honored the Bissinger name with the title “Candy Maker for the Empire.”

Four hundred years later, the family is still making it pretty much the same, but have added some low calorie candies, organic treats and purchase their cocoa beans from Fair Trade organizations.

The original location is in the Central West End at 32 Maryland Plaza. Much more than a candy store, this location also serves chocolate desserts, wines and more.

Or try the Plaza Frontenac store at 1701 S. Lindbergh or another location at 1600 Broadway.
