One-stop information center for parks and forest

If you stop only one place on the Big Sur coast, make it Big Sur Station, just .25 miles south of the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park entrance. Here you can pick up heaps of information on hiking, camping, and activities in the area’s state parks and national forest lands, plus maps, books, gifts and more. Staff and docents are available to answer questions and point you in the right direction. Be sure to check out the exhibits and nature displays while you’re there.

It’s also a great place to pull over because there are ample restrooms and most cell phones work here. Plus you can juice up devices in electrical outlets.

Location: Just north of mile marker 46
