This Rockabilly haven has not only been embraced by Wicker Park, it is now an integral part of the neighborhood (with rumors of a food truck circulating). Big Star is always hopping, with good reason: quick delicious tacos, whiskey varietals, great staff, and vinyl constantly spinning a classic tune on their single record player behind the bar. They only take cash, but do have an in-house ATM. If there’s a long wait, give your phone number to the host, and either hit up the bar or meander the area (the park is around the corner, complete with a dancing bear water fountain and swings). They’ll call your cell when the table’s ready. If you absolutely cannot wait, order tacos from their out-post (also convenient for a taco fix on the go).
