Sure, you have a little nature while walking the boardwalk and strolling along the beach. There’s more in store, though, at the 26-acre Bethany Beach Nature Center. On the Ocean side of U.S. 1, it’s easy to zip by this piece of nature. Inside the center you can learn about “Our Inland Bays … A Delicate Balance” through interactive exhibits. Or, head outside to explore the birds and other critters as well as the forest and marsh along a stroller- (and wheelchair) accessible boardwalk. Depending on the schedule of ranger talks, you can learn about whales, bats, Diamondback terrapins, horseshoe crabs, Monarch butterflies, and so much more. The programs and the playground are designed for children 2-8 years of age and all children must be accompanied by an adult. The Nature Center has seasonal hours, and the trail is open daily from sunrise to sunset.
