The Museo de las Culturas del Mon is also known as the Museum of World Culture. Its goal is to preserve and display objects of cultural value, ethnic heritage, and artistic wealth. It works with private and public art collectors and associations around the world. The Museum of World Culture contains a permanent exhibition along with temporary exhibitions.
Artifacts come from Africa, South America, Asia, and also the Oceanic areas of the world. One of the oldest pieces it the Metate a ritual grinding stone discovered in Costa Rica dating back to the year somewhere between 1 – 500.
Moreover, the Museo De las Culturas del Mon in Barcelona is a member of the SWICH program. Along with ten other members, SWICH (Sharing a World of Inclusion, Creativity, and Heritage), promotes cultural collaboration amongst museums of ethnography and world cultures.
