Every native Splitcanin (person from Split) will tell you that Bacvice is the best beach in Croatia.
Given it’s proximity to the city, Bacvice is no doubt Split’s most popular beach and you’ll find good swimming at this pebble mecca filled with bars and open-air clubs in the summer. This is also a Blue Flag beach meaning that it has a certification by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) that meet stringent standards, including the cleanliness of the water.
From Bacvice, heading east (away from the Old Town) and along the coast, you’ll find other good swimming beaches like Ovcice, Firule and another Blue Flag beach – Uvala Trstenik. For a longer walk, keep following the coast and try Znjan beach and then head back to the city by bus.
On the other side of Split (the Marjan end), there’s Bene at the north west of the park and Kasjuni Cove or Jezinac and Zvoncac closer to the city. These beaches are quieter than the popular ones close to Bacvice and offer natural shade, peace and a back to nature vibe.
