Founded in 1832 and set across three levels, inside this museum you’ll find more than 100,000 items dating from the Paleolithic era to the end of the 12th century.
Start at the top floor housing prehistoric archaeological material from the Stone and Metal Ages and then work your way down through the levels chronologically.
The first floor exhibits numerous objects illustrating life in northern Dalmatia during Roman rule including marble statutes and busts.
The ground floor displays items from the 7th to 12th centuries most of which is related to Croat culture.
Because of the superb location, from the upper floor windows you can get some great photos of St Donatus Church.
