Tucked at the foot of Lake McDonald, Apgar Campground gives campers a forested setting in a place where activities are endless. A paved biking path tours the woods, and rental boats let you paddle the lake. For relaxing, wading in the lake’s clear water soothes like nothing else.
Apgar is the largest campground in Glacier National Park. It has more than 190 campsites, all first come, first served. Reservations are only available six months in advance for group campsites. Apgar is open year round, although from mid-October through early May, it operates in primitive or winter status with no running water. No hookups are available for RVs.
From the campground, you can walk to the Apgar Amphitheater for evening naturalist presentations. Its scenic location overlooks the lake. Paths also lead to the boat launch, boat rentals, restaurant, bike rentals and gift shops.
