Ala Moana Center

The best shopping on the island

Ala Moana Center is the world’s largest open-air mall. It boasts beautiful Asian Pacific Rim architecture, a slew of superb restaurants, countless high-end designer boutiques, local shops, a large food court and hundreds of additional shops. Even if you’re not much of a shopper, Ala Moana is definitely worthy of a look. To get a bit of local flavor while you’re there, grab your favorite espresso-based drink at the Honolulu Coffee Company (links to Waikiki listing), check out some aloha shirts at Hilo Hattie, buy some new slippers (you might call them flip-flops or thongs) at Island Sole, check out some pearls at Maui Divers Jewelry and then sit down for lunch with an ocean view at Neiman Marcus’ island-chic eatery Mariposa or the ever- popular Japanese noodle/soup house Goma Tei.
