Acorn Street is indeed narrow, but not too narrow. It’s comforting to know that — per an 1825 decree — the lane is exactly wide enough for two cows to pass one another. Still, its hidden location and cobblestone pavement capture the look and feel of another era. Red bricks, black shutters, gas lanterns, and tidy window boxes make Acorn Street irresistible. Get out the camera – this is iconic Beacon Hill at its best — as is Louisburg Square around the corner.
