Autoroute du Soleil

The A6 Autoroute is a toll road that runs through South Burgundy. The N6 national road and A6 parallel the Saône River and pass through the towns of Chalon-sur-Saône, Touruns and Mâcon.

There are five A6 exits in South Burgundy. Two each for Chalon-sur-Saône and Mâcon and then one for Tournus. Each exit indicates nearby towns and what the easily reached tourist sights.

As with all Autoroutes in France, the A6 has Aires – Rest Stops about every 20 kilometers (12 miles). Many of the larger Aires sell regional products. Also prices at Aires are high, so you may want to wait when buying gas/diesel or food unless you really need to.
