These stores can be found all over LA, but this West Hollywood store is one of the best. Why pay full price for stuff like napkins and Band Aids when you can fill up a basket with dollar items? Some of the so-called fresh produce has seen better days, and I don’t think I’d trust an off-brand can of baby clams, but at the 99 you can really make your dollar stretch.

With the economy in the tank, these stores are always busy, and the faint whiff of failure from shopping here has been replaced by a breeze of common sense.
