For around $10 you can drive along one of the world’s most scenic roads. It winds through private Pebble Beach, an 8,400-acre complex of nature preserves, world-class golf courses, resorts and stately residences.
Pick up a map at the gate and stop at the numbered destinations with interpretive info. Stops you won’t want to miss: Crocker Marble Palace, The Lone Cypress, Seal Rock, Bird Rock, and the beach at Spanish Bay.
Enter from the south gate in Carmel, off North San Antonio Road, or from the north gate off Sunset Drive in Pacific Grove.
Tip: If you spend at least $35 dining or shopping in Pebble Beach Resort, you can show the receipt and get a refund at the gate. And if you enter on a bicycle, you don’t pay a fee at all.
Note: Motorcycles aren’t allowed on 17-Mile Drive.
