Nashville. Home to music legends and young musicians on the rise, southern hospitality and southern food, music venues and history galore, and yes, more music. Known as Music City, this Southern town is hip and charming and a top spot for a girlfriend getaway. Besides, it’s beautiful, it’s full of trees, it’s green, and lies along the Cumberland River. Nashville has an urban downtown surrounded by parks and unique neighborhoods from its 8th Avenue South, lined with antique stores, to the four blocks of restaurants and shops in Hillsboro Village, between Vanderbilt and Belmont Universities, and to Germantown where you’ll find lots of one of a kind good eats.
You can shop for unique Nashville duds (jeans!) or souvenirs while exploring town by day, then honky-tonk and listen to tunes by night. Set aside another day to get in a little history lesson at Andrew Jackson’s home, just 25 miles or so from town, or scoot over to the Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Distillery about an hour and a half away. Otherwise, there are plenty of places to soak in some musical history and order up a cold glass of sweet tea or some other good libation right in town.
All of Nashville’s colleges and universities blend in and help keep a constant young, hip feel to town. (And what girl doesn’t want to feel young and hip?) Festivals always add an extra dose of excitement, like the CMT Music Awards, the song writers festival – Tin Pan South, and the non-music events like Nashville Restaurant Week and the Antiques and Garden Show.
When it’s all said and done, you’ll want a comfy place to rest your head each night and Nashville has some fab lodging choices to leave you feeling pampered and rested for another day on the town.
Nashville. It may not be all about the music, but it could be.
