With high-end restaurants, renowned museums, a vibrant Downtown District and everything that comes with being home to the University of Iowa, this community is a destination for anyone, including girlfriends who are looking for a fun weekend getaway.

Friday Night in Iowa City: Out On The Town

Check into your room at hotelVetro and enjoy the contemporary furnishings and chic vibe of this 4-star hotel. Walk just a few blocks to Basta Pizzeria Ristorante, where you’ll catch up with the ladies at this upscale pizza and Italian spot. Share a half liter of wine and a lobster pizza while you reminisce.

Saturday: Shopping, Exploring & Eating

Sleep in! After all, you’re on vacation. Then start your morning off right at one of Iowa City’s most well-known breakfast spots. The Hamburg Inn No. 2 has played host to numerous presidential candidates over the years.

On your walk back to the hotel, take the opportunity to get lost in the multi-faceted Iowa City Pedestrian Mall (Ped Mall). Share a gourmet treat at Molly’s Cupcakes, stock up on vintage inspired Hawkeye gear at Tailgate Iowa, try on some classy duds at Textiles and shove your nose in a book at Prairie Lights.

Catch a late lunch in a window booth at Atlas World Grill while enjoying the hustle and bustle of Iowa City’s eclectic atmosphere. Then it’s time to gear up for your Saturday night.

There’s always a great dramatic or musical performance taking place at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts. If the featured performance doesn’t suit you, then try Hancher Auditorium or the Englert Theater. This community has no shortage of top notch performing venues.

The Iowa River Landing in Coralville is home to 30hop. With a simple yet contemporary menu, and a hip urban atmosphere you’ll want to stay all night. Don’t worry, you can, just head upstairs to the area’s only rooftop bar. When you’ve had your fill, grab a Yellow Cab and head to bed.

Sunday: Brunch

Pack up and prepare to head back to reality. But first, make a short drive to the North Liberty area for brunch in a uniquely beautiful setting at Cedar Ridge Winery.
