Hilton Head fall festivals draw both visitors and locals for fine food, beverage, art and entertainment. Fall vacations here offer the best of all worlds. They’re hosted in scenic parks or along the water, and a moderate year-round climate lends itself to fun in the sun.

When to Go and Why

Some of the best times to visit are during special weekend events, grand celebrations of outdoor living. Vendors offer world-class art, and chefs dish up specialties showcasing their style and competing for bragging rights. Visitors dine on locally-sourced seasonal delights. Many of the best festivals are annual.

September and October on Hilton Head

Autumn, when traffic and crowds are of no concern, offers less humidity and cooler temperatures than mid-summer. For a relaxing and fun-filled getaway, plan a week or two in September or October. In September, the Italian Heritage Festival almost serves as the close of official summer, while Burgers & Brew is an early October taster’s delight.

In mid-October the week-long and long-running Arts and Seafood Festival in Bluffton is a must-do event, with a 10K race, 5K fun run, kayak tours and fishing tournament. The closing weekend of the streetfest highlights art exhibits, local entertainment, delicious seafood and an Iron Chef competition. You’ll find affordable accommodations in Bluffton (ask for the special event rates), with a historic town for shopping and touring.

Hilton Head Fall Festivals in November

Concours d’Elegance in early November is one of the largest local events with international flavor, and it revolves around the automobile and other driving machines. Hobnob with the true auto aficionados and bring a big checkbook if you plan on driving home a major investment. Overnight at the Westin on Hilton Head for easy event access.

Shortly after the Concours, in early November the Oyster Festival is the place to savor shucking, roasting and steaming mollusks. Shortly after that, the Bluffton International & Craft Beer Festival raises a glass to beer aficionados.

No one will starve or be bored during a Fall visit to Hilton Head; it’s easy to find spectacular entertainment that perfectly pairs with whatever your food and drink choices are. Extend your vacation to two weeks for maximum enjoyment.
