What is the most important thing you've learned from traveling?

Spectacular scenery makes a destination exciting and photogenic, but, it is the people you meet that make it truly memorable.

What's your favorite mode of transportation? Why?

Auto touring- because of the flexibility and opportunity for exploring. For 4 years we wrote a syndicated column “Roads Less Travelled” and it was great fun.
However, we also really enjoy train travel and river cruising because both are so relaxing.

Do you prefer traveling alone or with a companion? Why?

Together my husband,Rob, and I make a great travel team. (except when the GPS doesn’t work in England….but that’s another story.)

What's your most exciting or surprising travel experience?

How wonderful (& rare ) it is to find a true “dark sky” experience these days. Recommend the Channel Island of Sark, Southern Arizona, the Canadian prairies and Northern Ontario.
