Sally has the true ‘Wanderlust Gene’. She is always on the go. Traveling for work as a travel writer, an international house-sitter, and moving to international destinations she doesn’t stay in one place for too long. She was born and raised in Southern Alberta, Canada and spent four years enjoying beautiful Costa Rica. After extensive traveling, she chose Barcelona, Spain as her new ‘home-base”. When she is not writing or out with her camera, she is either at the gym or outside running, reading, or most likely making her next travel plans.

Do you prefer traveling alone or with a companion? Why?

It really depends on the length of trip I am taking. When I travel for less than a month, I enjoy traveling alone. I can do everything I want, when I want. I have no reason to compromise with anyone. If I change my mind about something it doesn’t matter. When I am gone longer than that I enjoy meeting up with friends or family and have some travel time with them. Even though I enjoy traveling alone, it is also great to have experiences with other people.

What's your most exciting or surprising travel experience?

My most exciting travel experience happened in 2015. My initial plan was to spend a month in Berlin, a month in Amsterdam, and a month in Malaga. During the planning process I found that it was very inexpensive to travel though Europe to I ended up going to Bath and Cornwall, England; Berlin, Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, and Florence. It was an amazing trip.

What do you do when you encounter an unexpected dead-end?

I don’t think there is such a thing as an dead-end. There is always something…. even if it involves turning around and finding a different direction. Maybe I missed something amazing on the way…. or I’m about to find something unique and unusual.

What is the most important thing you've learned from traveling?

Just going with the flow…… things happen. Don’t book too much stuff or I might just miss out on something amazing because I met someone or found a place I didn’t know about. All of my plans are just guides….. things I would like to do and see, but there are always things that I don’t know about. So it nice to just see what happens and where the adventure takes me.
