A resident of Saint Helena Island, South Carolina, Mary Ellen has lived on the Main Line of Philadelphia, the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and Naples, Florida. She has always had an affinity for the water and travels on the rising tide, which has had it's unfortunate moments as humidity makes her hair frizz out of control, which was a particular nightmare during her teenage years Having been a regular contributor to Beaufort Lifestyle Magazine for eight years, with well over 100 profiles of Beaufort's interesting people to her credit, Mary Ellen has written for the publisher’s three sister magazines as well as Carolina Arts and a few other publications. She co-wrote the script for "Sea Island Stories of the Lowcountry: Hunting Island State Park", which is an hour long audio tour. One of her most memorable interviews was with Pat Conroy just prior to his 70th birthday festival, and included in the book, Pat Conroy, A Lowcountry Heart, Reflections on a Writing Life.
