Do you prefer traveling alone or with a companion? Why?

We always prefer traveling together. It’s interesting to discuss things we see and compare our different takes. Sometimes one is photographing while the other is interviewing a subject. If navigating in an unfamiliar destination, it’s better to have a companion to help locate specific points of interest and notice more sights. Also, it’s a safety measure to be with a companion in a new place.

What's your most exciting or surprising travel experience?

We’ve had fabulous trips to Europe to enjoy different sightseeing, sporting events and leisure travel such as the Ryder Cup in Valderrama, Spain; bullfighting in Madrid; British Open in St. Andrews and Liverpool; Scottish Open in Carnoustie; Paris and London art, history and architecture. Our favorite leisure beach trips have taken us all the way to South America. Also, we love the Pacific coast of California for more excitement.

What's your favorite mode of transportation? Why?

We prefer traveling by automobile, whether it’s to reach a destination or after we arrive at a site by train or plane. Driving suits our style for taking off the beaten path excursions and photographing events, people and places along the way.

What is the most important thing you've learned from traveling?

It’s important for us to have a plan, but it’s written in pencil in case something unexpected arises we can easily veer from the plan.
