Jane wasn’t one of the original surfers to discover Bali in the early seventies, but she wasn’t far behind. Having honeymooned there twice, worked for the national airline for more years than she cares to admit and represented two of Bali’s leading luxuries hotels, it’s safe to say she knows her way around the island. Jane has lived in Indonesia for two and a half years and speaks the language fluently. Over the years she has seen all sides of Bali, having visited as a teenager, a business woman, a mother and a grandmother. Jane is as passionate about the destination and its people as ever and can't wait to share it.

What's your favorite mode of transportation? Why?

Car, as long as I’m not driving, because you can stop whenever and wherever you want, for as long as you want. Plenty of opportunity to stop and chat to locals.

Do you prefer traveling alone or with a companion? Why?

With a companion as it becomes a shared experience and you get to see it not only from your own perspective, but from that of another.

What do you do when you encounter an unexpected dead-end?

Explore further. Dead-ends are rarely dead ends at all just not the ending you were expecting.

What is the most important thing you've learned from traveling?

That the world is made up of a wonderful conglomeration of people, cultures, histories, viewpoints but essentially we are all human beings and most enjoy interacting with others of different background, even if conversations are limited to hand motions and smiles. Smiles especially are universal!
