Daniel McCrohan

Daniel is a highly experienced travel writer and China expert who fell in love with Beijing in 2005 and has called it his home ever since. He lives with his wife and two adorable children in one of Beijing’s historic hutong alleyways and loves nothing more than cycling around the city’s narrow lanes – on his 20-year-old Flying Pigeon bicycle – in search of Beijing’s lesser-known treasures. Daniel has written more than a dozen guidebooks: He is the lead author for Lonely Planet’s Beijing City Guide and has been a co-author for the past three editions of Lonely Planet’s China guide. Online, he is a regular contributor to BBC Travel, CNN.com, lonelyplanet.com and World Travel Guide. Daniel also wrote the China section of the children’s travel website Oddizzy. In television, Daniel has hosted multiple episodes of Lonely Planet’s travel series Best in China, including many of the Beijing-based shows.
