What's your favorite mode of transportation? Why?

For me, the special way of travelling is by bike. I love to walk, of course, but only if your time is unlimited, and of course a car can get you somewhere faster, but you’re separated from the land and the people by metal and glass. A bike gives you nature, physicality, and the ability to get somewhere while still seeing, smelling, hearing and feeling (mostly in your legs) the land around you.

What is the most important thing you've learned from traveling?

People, people, and more people. Learn the language of a place, even a few words, know a song or two of the land, taste the spices or the drink that is the local pride, and make a friend or two.

What's your most exciting or surprising travel experience?

Mountaintops. Every mountain in Israel is a potential new religion, new prophecy, new parable, and on every mountain a new view, a new breath of wind or a new rainbow.
