What's your most exciting or surprising travel experience?

The couple of weeks I spent exploring Jordan — everything about that country surprised and delighted me: the food, the incredible diversity of both scenery and people, it’s the one place I’ve been that I think about returning to often.

What's the most underrated destination in your opinion?

Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. I think it’s one of the most beautiful places in the country, and there is so much to do there, but it’s hardly visited … in fact it boasts the country’s least-visited national park (Isle Royale, which is well worth a visit despite being pretty hard to get to).

What's your favorite mode of transportation? Why?

I feel like it’s almost a cliche at this point, but I’m gonna have to say train. You get to see things you just can’t see any other way, it’s super comfortable, and I love that it just makes you slow down and stare out the window.
